Constitution |
|
|
|
|
|
The name of the league shall be the Hamilton Veterans Dart League, as founded in 1948. The address of the league shall be that of the President, Secretary, and the Treasurer as may be elected from time to time. |
|
|
|
|
|
1. Management |
|
|
The whole management of the league shall be conducted by an Executive whom shall be elected or appointed by the members. |
|
|
|
|
|
A. Member; the league shall consist of teams, with each team allowed to register twelve (12) men players at any one time and a non-playing captain if so desired. Upon registration, a team must signify if the Captain is a non-player. If any player resigns from a team, the Captain must make two(2) copies of his resignation and forward one (1) to the Secretary and one (1) to the Results Secretary. This will allow the team in question to sign another player. All players are to be signed by the team Captain. Any club may register more than one (1) team provided there is a vacancy in the league schedule. |

|
|
B. Registration fees shall be set at $50.00 per team. (Money for team(s) registration must be received before the date as set by the executive). |
|
|
|
|
|
C. Player membership fees will be set at $15.00 per player and must be received by the treasurer before the third (3rd) playing night. |
|
|
|
|
|
D. All teams are to be registered by the set date in order to assist in the preparation of the playing schedule. |
|
|
|
|
|
E. When membership money is turned in, the name and telephone number of the player and the team he is playing for must accompany it. |
|
|
|
|
|
F. If the Results Secretary finds any non-registered players on any results cards, the game will be forfeited 23-0. |
|
|
|
|
|
G. All protests must be in writing and sent to the Secretary by registered mail within 48 hours of the game in question. It must be accompanied by a $5 check or money order. If the protest is turned down, the money will be forfeited to the league. If the protest is upheld, the money will be returned to the Captain who submitted the protest and the match score will come under the scrutiny of the Executive. |

|
|
|
H. All pensioners 60 years of age or over with 5 consecutive years membership in the league (must be the last 5 years) shall pay a $10.00 membership fee for the current year. |
|
|
|
|
|
I. Aggregate score to count in the event of a tie at seasons end. |
|
|
|
|
|
J. All moneys are to be sent or handed directly to the league Treasurer. |
|
|
|
|
|
K. Any player in a league or playoff game or tournament play may be disqualified for misconduct or acts unbecoming his team or the league, all at the judgement of the Executive. |
|
|
|
|
|
K(ii) If disqualification is determined necessary, all games in question will be forfeited. |
|
|
|
|
|
2. Offices |
|
|
A. The Executive shall be elected or appointed for a 2 year term and shall consist of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Results Secretary, Sergeant at Arms and a Sick and Benevolent Chairman |

|
|
|
|
B. The executive Committee shall consist of 5 or more members of which two (2) shall be appointed as auditors. |
|
|
|
|
|
3. Officers |
|
|
A. The President shall preside over all league meetings and such other duties that usually pertain to that office. He shall have the power to call meetings, and shall be the ex-official member of all committees, casting the deciding vote, if necessary. |
|
|
|
|
|
B. The Vice-President shall preside and fulfill the office of the President when that official is absent. |
|
|
|
|
|
C. The Secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings in the proper set of books which will be supplied by the league, as well a list of Captains’ names, players’ names and phone numbers. He shall surrender all books and correspondence in his possession to his successor immediately after election or appointment. |
|
|
|
|
|
D. The Treasurer shall keep a record of all receipts and disbursements. Also, issue and sign all cheques in conjunction with and counter-signed by the President or the Secretary when duly passed by the Executive. He shall report at each meeting. He shall make all deposits in a chartered Bank of Canada, which shall be approved by the Executive. He shall surrender all books in his possession immediately after election or appointment. |

|
E. The Results Secretary shall keep a record of all team standings up to date, and provide a copy of these at the monthly Captains’ meetings. He shall provide the Secretary with the names and phone numbers of the team Captains and players. He shall surrender all books in his possession immediately after election or appointment. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
F. The Auditors (2) shall audit the books and vouchers of the league at the close of the fiscal year, and submit a report of each audit at the second Annual General Meeting. |
|
|
|
|
|
G. All league money to be banked by the Treasurer only. |
|
|
|
|
|
H. All correspondence to be forwarded to the Secretary only. |
|
|
|
|
|
I. All results cards to be forwarded to the Results Secretary only. |
|
|
|
|
|
J. The President shall receive a copy of minutes prior to the next Executive, Captains, or Annual General Meeting. |
|
|
|
|
|
4. Committees |
|
|
A. The Executive and Committee shall meet monthly. |
|
|
|
|
|
B. It shall have the power to fill any office becoming vacant and shall have the power to recommend the removal of any officer or member of the league for conduct which is unbecoming of his office or the league. |
|
|
|
|
|
C. It shall advise in all matters pertaining to the league and have general supervision of its operation. |
|
|
|
|
|
5. General Meetings |
|
|
A. General meetings of the league shall be held when called by the executive. |
|
|
|
|
|
B. The first General meeting of the league will be held between the last regular season playing night and the first playoff game.(Date to be decided by the Executive.) The agenda of business will be carried out as follows; |

|
|
Unfinished business, and |
|
|
New business. |

|
|
C. The second General meeting shall be held on a date as called by the Executive. The agenda of business will be carried out as follows; |

Election of Officers (every second year). |
|
|
This meeting should be held approximately 30 days after the Executive cup. There will be a third and/or fourth meeting if necessary. |
|
|
|
|
|
D. Any member signifying by letter of his intention to run for any office may do so, provided he is nominated from the floor after the reading of his letter. |
|
|
|
|
|
E. There will be a Captains meeting called only at the discretion of the Executive. Only registered Captains or their representative may attend a Captains meeting. The door will be manned by the Sergeant at Arms. |
|
|
|
|
|
F. All meetings to be called at the discretion of the Executive. |
|
|
|
|
|
G. Alcoholic beverages will be allowed at meetings at the sole discretion of the chairman. |
|
|
|
|
|
6. Trophies |
|
|
A. All Master trophies shall be surrendered to and/or picked up by the trophy committee at the discretion of the Executive. All necessary repairs will be carried out at the discretion of the Executive. |
|
|
B. Al trophies to be signed for by the receiving club or team with a cover letter explaining the responsibility and verifying |
|
|
the condition received. |

Rules of Play |
|
|
as ammended for the 2005/2006 season |
|
|
1. All boards are to be official Bristol boards in good playing condition. |
|
|
2. Height of the boards is to be 5’8” to the center of the bull. |
|
|
3. The toe-line is to be clearly marked at 7’-91/4” from the center of the bull on a plumb line. |
|
|
4. Match to consist of six (6) Doubles Cricket, six (6) Doubles (601), six (6) singles (501) and five (5) triples (701). |
|
|
5. A maximum of 12 men to be signed by each team, plus one non-playing Captain. (if desired). |
|
|
6. No player(s) to be signed in the last 10 weeks of the season or playoffs. |
|
|
7. One week’s notice to be given for any player additions. Money must be received by the Monday prior to the next game. |
|
|
8. Transfers must be authorized by the Executive and both team Captains. |
|
|
9. Each team will supply markers for boards and said marker will face the board at all times. |
|
|
10. Games to start no later than 8:00 p.m..(unless otherwise agreed by both Captains). |
|
|
11. A team unable to field at least 4 players by this time will forfeit 23-0. |
|
|
12. A team with only 4 men will forfeit; two (2) doubles, two (2) cricket, two (2) singles and one (1) triple. |
|
|
B) A team with only 5 men will forfeit; one (1) double, one (1) cricket, and one (1) single. |
|
|
C) All players in attendance must play a minimum of three (3) games. |
|
|
13. A player may play 1 single only. |
|
|
A) Same player combination may only be used once in any Double, Cricket or Triple |
|
|
14. Captains may post names in any position in lieu of byes but cannot play a man whose name is not posted for that portion of the match. |
|
|
15 Two (2) points to be awarded for each match win. |
|
|
16. Any team forfeiting 3 games during the season must give just cause. |
|
|
17. The scoreboard must be in plain view of the thrower. |
|
|
18 All darts to be checked by the marker and pulled by the thrower. |
|
|
19. Players will throw from or behind the toe-line. |
|
|
20 The marker will call a dart only when asked by the thrower, stating if it is a single, double, or triple. If a scorekeeper tells the thrower what to shoot and a protest is upheld, the match score will be scrutinized by the executive. |
|
|
21. Home team to supply results card. The winning team will bring the results card to the next captains’ meeting, or a drop off point no later than 7days after a captains’ meeting. Winning captain to report the match score, by phone, to the results secretary no later than midnight on the Wednesday after the game. Failure to do so will result in loss of aggregate. |
|
|
22. When score has been marked, it may not be changed after a further six (6) darts have been thrown AND pulled from the board. |
|
|
23. All games except cricket are double in and double out. Inner bull counts as double. |
|
|
24. Visiting team to throw for bull first. The winner of the bull toss will throw first for score. |
|
|
25. Captain or Co-captain only, may tell a player what to shoot in the singles. Partners may confer in doubles, cricket, and triples. |
|
|
26. Cancellation of games for any reason including bad weather can only be done by the President or Vice-President. |
|
|
27. Triples to be played 2 at a time unless otherwise agreed by captains or when a shortage of players is in effect. |
|
|
28. Tournament games will commence at 7:00 p.m.. |
|
|
29. All tournament teams shall consist of players representing the same team or club. |
|
|
30. All finals in tournaments will be best 3 of 5 formats. |
|
|
31. All rules apply in the regular season as well as the playoffs. |
|
|
32. Players may play a maximum of one (1) single, two (2) doubles, two (2) cricket, and three (3) triples, except where rule 12 applies or a tie breaker situation. |
|
|
33. If the match results in a tie after all regular games have been played, an extra triples game will be played, captains to decide on players. |
|
|
34. Home team to have choice of boards on last game (especially in a 11-11 tie). |
|
|
35. A.G.M. for playoff draw to be held on the Wednesday immediately following the final regular season playing night so that the playoff can commence on the following Tuesday. |

36. Secretary to be notified of any Captaincy changes. |
