819-1131 Japan Konnichiwa from Japan Thank you for visiting our page. We are sure that you'v got a lot of response from other schools, but we appreciate it if you could send us greeting cards. Japan consists of four islands from north: Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and southernmost island Kyushu. In the north of Kyushu is Fukuoka (33.5 N latitude and 130.5 E longitude). Can you find it? "Fuku" means "Happy" and "Oka" means "Hill." So we live on a happy hill. The population is 1.2 million. Our school, Itoshima High School, has 1,300 students (aged 15 and 18). The academic year begins in April and ends in March with about 220 school days a year. School begins at 7:40 and ends at 15:30. All boys and girls come to school in respective school uniforms with school bags. Our school plans to celebrate a 100- year anniversary of foundation in 2002. It is rather old but distinguished in this area. Our school has two sister schools in USA and China. Every year we dispatch our delegation to those schools. On November 10 this year about 400 students will fly to Beijing as a school excursion. During the summer 20 students visit California as well. Students could both walk on the Great Walls and play in the Disneyland before they graduate. One of our biggest school events is our athletic meet. Visit our web site: English Class Page We are actively invollved in the e-mail exchange program. We have several e-mail exchange parter schools around the world. We participated in the Email Around the World project. We also helped the elementary school pupils close to us to participate in "Little Mermaid on World Tour". We had a TV conference with a Korean high school, using CUSEEME. Would you like to try one with us?
