TV Conference with Ansan Girls Information and Industrial High School

Toshishige Yamasaki

On December 18th, we asked Mr. Lee of Ansan Girls School in Korea to have another TV conference with us. From December 18th to 20th we had no lessons in the afternoon when the parents would come and see the homeroom teachers. Our students were free in the afternoon, and Mr. Lee was kind enough to arrange his English lessons for our time. We connected with them through CUSEEMe at 2:30 p.m.

We chose that particular day because a local TV station FBS came to our school to make a program on the computer use at high schools in Fukuoka Prefecture. Ms. Mashiko from FBS first interviewed Shimokawa (aged 18), the president of Computer Club, about how the computer club members made  our school homepage which was awarded Somu Daijin Syou last year,  and then observed our TV conference with Ansan. The pictures below show some of the scenes in our TV conference.

It's easier to have a TV conference with Korean schools because we are in the same time zone. On that particular time, Mr. Davis from CATN in Maryland, USA, was planning to join us, waiting till late at night (11:30 p.m. US time) so that we could have a conference from three different countries, but our computer's system resources were too low to keep itself stable. We need the latest computer (at least equal to the computers in Korean and US schools ) to keep on our project for the integrated use of computer in our classroom situation. I apologize Mr. Davis for keeping him waiting so long.
