When cutting parts from the runner (trees), it's vital that the part itself
is never harmed. Therefore, it's recommended that you use the appropriate
tools to accomplish this task. I've listed some recommended and not
recommended tools below:

@
| Metal cutting nipper |
Although it's not specifically made for cutting plastic,
it's still sharp enough to get the job done. |
| Plastic cutting nipper |
Probably the mainstream tool for cutting model parts.
|
| Nail clippers |
This apparatus is suprisingly effectice. Not only does
it offer a decent cutting ability, it usually comes with a file too!
This should be THE alternative to plastic cutting nippers. |

@
| Craft knife |
Not only is using this to cut runners (trees) dangerous,
it also should be quite difficult. |
| Scissors |
Since the plastic of these models kits are quite dense
and hard, the blades of the scissors will wear down hastily. The
structure of scissors are too fragile to cut hard plastic. |
| Fingers |
One of the worst ways of removing a part from the runner
(tree). Small parts are likely to break and you'll probably chip bits
from pieces. |
Now that we've covered the recommended tools, lets move onto cutting the
actual piece form the runner (tree).
when you have identified the part which you require, use the appropriate
tool to cut the part so that you leave a little bit of the runner (tree)
left on the part. This is because if you cut off all of the runner (tree)
from the part, you'll leave a not so beautiful mark where the runner (tree)
was.
