Week One (3/20-3/26) Review


Tuesday, 3/22
CV traveled to York Suburban, where the Varsity and JV scrimmaged the Trojans.
This was the second scrimmage for CV in preparation for the season

Thursday, 3/24
The Bucks played their final match of the season in Rill Gym, as they hosted
McCaskey in the season opener. In a non-league match, the JV swept McCaskey,
coming from behind to win the second game by two points 25-23. JV won the first
game of the season by a 25-16 score. In the second match of the night, the Varsity cruised
to their first victory by winning all three games by a comfortable margin, 25-8, 25-14, 25-8

Friday, 3/25
The JV picked up a late invitation to the Hempfield JV Tournament

Week Two (3/27-4/2) Review


Tuesday, 3/29
CV traveled Ephrata to open their Section II season. JV posted two wins with
scores of 25-11 and 25-16. Varsity followed up with straight games wins of
25-19, 25-12, 26-24.

Thursday, 3/31
The Bucks took the long bus ride to LMHS to square off in a section match. After
dropping the first game, 17-25, CV responded with back to back wins, 25-21, 25-16.
LMHS forced a fifth game posting a 14-25 score in the fourth game. CV jumped out
to an early lead and never gave it up, winning the match with a 15-8 final game.

Friday, 4/2
Varsity travelled to Wilson High School to compete with 15 other teams, three teams
currently in the TOP 20 state poll. CV won thier pool by defeating Red Lion
27-14, 25-22, splitting with Lake Lehman, 25-23, 22-25, and defeating Oley Valley
25-10, 25-18 and Antietam 25-22, 25-12. CV crushed Twin Valley in the one game
quarter final match. CV joined the 3 ranked teams in the semi-finals where they
fell to host Wilson by scores of 14-25, 17-25.
CV ended the tournament 3rd, with a 4-1-1 match record, 8-3 game record.

Week Three (4/3-4/9) Review


Tuesday, 4/5
CV hosted Cocalico in a league match at the Middle School. JV fell to the Eagles
in three games, losing the third by a 22-25 score. The varsity started the evening
by dropping the first game to Cocalico, 21-25. The Bucks rallied to win the next 3 games
winning all three by a 2 point margin.

Friday, 4/2
Varsity travelled to Lake-Lehman High School to compete with 9 other teams. CV
lost 2 games to Host Lake-Lehman, won both games from Emmaus and Whitehall and
closed out pool play with 2 losses to Lancaster Mennonite. In the one game
Quarter final, CV fell to Hempfield.
CV ended the tournament with a 2-3 match record, 4-5 game record.

Bo Miller was named to the All-Tournament Team

Week Four (4/10-4/16) Review


Tuesday, 4/12
CV hosted Garden Spot at the Middle School. JV posted two wins with
scores of 25-15 and 25-9. Varsity closed out the evening with 3 straight wins
to remain undefeated in the Section.

Thursday, 4/14
JV and Varsity won in straight sets as they hosted the Cedars from Lebanon. Led by Joey
Fuller with 4 Kills, the JV finished the night in two games. The Varsity, seeing many
of the starters given a rest, won in three games. Bo Miller led the team in kills with
10 in two games and Blake Youndt had 3 aces in his three games. Bo Miller had a .769 Kill %
for the night, followed by Alex Armstrong, .667 and Travis Armstrong, .571

Saturday, 4/16
If you missed the Cocalico Tournament, you missed a great Saturday of volleyball by our CV Bucks.

CV traveled to Cocalico for the Eagle Classic with 9 other teams. Pool A was MANHEIM TWP, TWIN VALLEY,
COCALICO, OLEY VALLEY, AND TUNKHANNOCK.

CV opened play in Pool B defeating EPHRATA 25-14, 25-13 lead by Ben Fuller’s six kills and Blake Youndt’s
two aces. Bo Miller went 4 for 4 on kills.

The Bucks next faced CEDAR CREST in games that had Cedar Crest staying close early in the games but CV
pulled away near the end to win 25-20 and 25-18. Bo Miller again shown with 7 out of 8 kills to lead the
Bucks. Five players had an ace with Alex Armstrong tallying 2 block kills.

In the third match of Pool B, CV faced HOLY NAME. Dispatching HN in two games by scores of 25-18, 25-20,
CV was led again by the hot hand of Bo Miller with 8 Kills, and one ace from Ryan Baker and Shaun Reed.
Four players had 1 block kill each.

CV finished pool play defeating GOV MIFFLIN 25-17, 25-18. The Bucks were led by Ben Fuller with 6 kills,
Blake Youndt and Alex Armstrong, 2 Aces and Bo Miller with 2 block kills. The wins gave CV first place in
the pool, with an 8-0 record.

CV earned the bye in the quarter finals and watched as Gov Mifflin (3rd in pool) played Oley Valley (2nd from
Pool A). Gov Mifflin defeated Oley Valley to advance to the semi finals and a chance to avenge the pool losses
to CV. GOV MIFFLIN came out fired up and controlled the first game, winning 25-18. CV bounced back and took
control of the match, winning game two 25-19. The Bucks closed out the match with a 25-20 win, advancing to the
finals against MANHIEM TOWNSHIP which went three games with Cocalico in their semi-final match.

CV jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the first game of the finals, only to see the score tied at 10-10. CV went on
a 8-1 run and finished the game at 25-16. The second game started back and forth before MT pulled ahead to a 7-11
lead. The lead went back and forth and ended up tied at20, 21, 22, 23 before CV scored the final 2 points to win
the tournament at 25-23.

Kill %: Bo Miller, .506, Ben Fuller, .376;
Aces: Ryan Baker, 8, Blake Youndt, 6;
Block Kills: Bo Miller, Alex Armstrong, 6, Blake Youndt, Andrew Cannon, Ben Fuller, 5.

Week Five (4/17-4/23) Review


Tuesday, 4/19
League bye.

Thursday, 4/21
CV hosted Ephrata in the first match of the 2nd round of leagues. JV took three games
to win thier match, as they improved thier overall record to a 7-5 match record. The Varsity
mirrored their 3-0 win at Ephrata, even mirroring their 3rd game win of 26-24. The Bucks
had to stage a come from behind win in the match clincher when they trailed 18-23 in the late
moments of the game. CV surged back to tie at 24-24 and the closed out the match with the
final two points.

Saturday, 4/23
CV started the day losing their first game by "CAP" 26-27 to host Warwick. The Bucks split the
match by winning the second game. CV played their next 2 matches against Cocalico and Garden Spot,
with the same results of splitting the match. The Bucks finally put their game together by defeating
Northern York both games. After defeating Ephrata in the single game semi-final match, CV once again
met the #17 state ranked Manheim Twp. CV met the Streaks in the finals last week and defeated them in
two games. This week, the match was much closer with the first two games ending 25-23, each team winning
a game. In the third game, CV did not get on track early and lost the match 9-15.

Week Six (4/25-4/30) Review


Monday, 4/25
CV Traveled to McCaskey HS for the second match of non-league games. The JV swept the Tornado JV in 2 straight games
The varsity started the night with 6 errors to spot McCaskey a 6-0 lead. They ended up winning the game by 4 points
won the second game easily befor closing the night with a 3 point win

Tuesday, 4/26
If you missed the match at the Middle School on Tues against LMHS, you are no different than a couple of people who
DID attend. Those of you who watched the match understand. The match between Section II leaders LMHS and CV was a
hard fought match that went to 4 games. By winning the match 3-1, LMHS moved into a tie for section lead with CV.
The JV fell in two, losing the second game 26-28 on a miscount of hits.

Thursday, 4/28
CV Junior Varsity returned to their winning ways, never giving Cocalico JV a chance to get into either game by winning 25-16
and 25-6. Cocalico Varsity, as always, was up to the challenge against CV. It appeared that depending on which side of the
court you were playing on determined how well you were playing. CV won the first game 25-17, then switched to the other side
of the net and lost 19-25. Returning to thier starting side, CV won 25-15. Cocalico took control of game four, on the
"good side", defeating CV again by 6 points. With the coin flip, CV moved back to thier winning side and won the 5th game, 15-11.

Week Seven (5/1-5/7) Review


Thursday, 5/5/5
JV started the night with a two game win over Garden Spot. The Varsity dropped into
second place in Section II as they lost a four game set to host Garden Spot.

Saturday, 5/7
Varsity started the day with a game 3 "cap" win, 27-26 to finish a 3-0 match against
Schuylkill Valley. They won the next two games against Schuylkill Valley, and went 3-0
against Daniel Boone. They closed out pool play with a 1-2 match against Carlisle, which
placed CV and Carlisle in a tie for first place, with the tie breaker going to Carlisle.
As the second place team, CV faced 1st place pool 1, Exeter in the semi-finals. CV dropped
the first game 23-25 and then closed out the tournament losing 19-25. CV ended the day
with a 7-4 record.
